"Wild Mountain Thyme" trailer pairs Emily Blunt with Jamie Dornan in Eire

Bleecker Street has released a trailer for his romantic comedy Wild mountain thyme With Emily Blunt and Jamie DornanAnd seriously, what a fresh hell is that? This movie looks absolutely terrible and believe it or not this is writer-director John Patrick ShanleyFollower of his outstanding drama from 2008 doubt!

Blunt stars as the headstrong farmer (what ???) Rosemary Muldoon, who has set herself the goal of winning the love and affection of her neighbor Anthony Reilly (Dornan). The problem is that Anthony seems to have inherited a family curse and does not notice his beautiful admirer. Engraved by his father Tony (Christopher Walken) plans to sell the family farm to his American nephew (Jon Hamm), Anthony is made to make his dreams come true.

I had high hopes for this movie based on its star cast and Oscar winner, but this trailer just didn't work for me. The tone is omnipresent to start with, and if I wanted to watch a guy fall in the open, I'm not sure I'd cast Dornan, who isn't exactly known for his comedic skills. Honestly, I felt this movie was going to be problematic based on that Woody Allen-ish writing on his poster, but then I heard Walken's ridiculous Irish accent and knew it for sure.

Now Shanley won an Oscar for writing Moonstruck and received a second nomination for adapting his own piece, Doubt, so maybe he deserves the benefit of the doubt here. After all, Wild Mountain Thyme is based on his acclaimed piece, Outside Mullingar. The Hollywood Reporter recognized the play for its "emotional generosity" but cautioned that "die-hard cynics need no application," and I guess I'll fall into the latter category because I just won't buy what this trailer sells .

The star of the piece Dearbhla Molloy, Co-stars in the film that was produced by Leslie Urdang, Anthony Bregman, Alex Witchel, Martina Niland, Michael A. Helfant and Bradley Gallo. I like a lot of these people and I'm a huge fan of that line-up, but Wild Mountain Thyme just looks bad. Watch the trailer below and don't say I didn't warn you.
