SNL: Martin Short Cast as (sexy?) Second Gentleman Doug, opposite Kamala Harris from Maya Rudolph

Has anyone called out to see Maya & Marty again?

Saturday Night Live hired Martin Short to play second gentleman Doug Emhoff. Maya Rudolph’s one-off variety cohost made its debut this weekend Vice President Kamala Harris’s Passover Seder who held her in a failed attempt to unite politicians on both sides of the aisle, including Ted Cruz.

Before her guests arrived, Harris encouraged her shy “Semitic smoking show” of a husband to loosen up and “pretend it’s just us.” Then the lights were dimmed and the sketch took a surprisingly sexy turn.

“Listen to me, girl,” said Emhoff von Short, wrapping his arms around his beloved wife. “I support you. Every time you look around, Dougie will be there for you like this, honey … But from time to time you will look around and I won’t be there. But I’m just telling you, ‘You have the baby! ‘”

“You are my low wall,” replied Harris. “You hold up my roof. And you’re always up in my basement. “

Finally, Alex Moffat’s Joe Biden arrived fresh from his first press conference as President of the United States. After blaming the crisis on Harris on the U.S.-Mexico border, he opened the front door and revealed a Passover surprise: his beloved dog, Major. It wasn’t long before the unruly German Shepherd Dog attacked Emhoff, who was only able to break free when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene showed up in rebellious style and put Major off.

Other guests of the Unity Seder were the woke up second daughter Ella Emhoff (played by Chloe Fineman) and Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock (played by Kenan Thompson).
