Reagan biopic will get Creed singer Scott Stapp as Frank Sinatra
Scott Stapp makes the leap to Hollywood. The Creed frontman and Grammy winner will play legendary singer Frank Sinatra in a biopic about former President Ronald Reagan. This marks Stapp's feature film debut as an actor. Stapp is a successful musician and many in the music world have made the transition to acting in the past. But he has some very big shoes to fill.
According to a new report, Scott Stapp will play Frank Sinatra in a scene in the upcoming biopic that is simply titled Reagan. Dennis Quaid (The Parents Trap, The Day After Tomorrow) will play the role of Ronald Reagan, who was an actor himself before making it into politics. The film is currently in production. The scene in question will take place in the Coconut Grove, which was a staple of old Hollywood. The scene takes place at a time when Reagan was head of the Screen Actors Guild. Stapp had to say this in a statement.
""Frank Sinatra in performance mode was an exercise in restraint. He had that steely, stylish boast and his very presence ruled a room. I was thrilled to join the cast and loved the attention to detail, style and overall production on set. "
The cast also includes Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan, Mena Suvari as Jane Wyman, Kevin Dillon as Jack Warner, Lesley-Anne Down as Margaret Thatcher and Jon Voight as the KGB agent who chased Reagan for years. Sean McNamara (Soul Surfer, Miracle Season) sits in the director's chair. Howard Klausner (Space Cowboys, The Last Ride) wrote the script. McNamara had this to say in a statement.
