Peeps get an animated film

Just one day after Easter, it was announced that an animated feature based on the popular Marshmallow Candy Peeps was in the works. With over two billion rabbits and chicks produced each year by the confectionery company Just Born, peeps have long been particularly popular at Easter. So it was possibly only a matter of time before the candy got its own movie.

The Peeps film comes from Mauritanian producers Christine and Mark Holder of Wonder Street and was written by David Goldblum, who will also be producing in addition to Wonder Street. Described as an animated film in the spirit of Trolls meets Smurfs, the Peeps movie follows “a ragged group of Peeps characters who go on a cross-country trip to attend Peepsfest, an annual branding celebration in Pennsylvania”.

“Peeps Chicks and Bunnies have been ingrained in American pop culture for nearly seven decades because of their instantly recognizable shapes and fan-favorite marshmallow flavor, making them the perfect characters to bring to life on the big screen,” Keith Domalewski, Director of Marketing & Consumer Engagement at Just Born, said in a statement. “We hope the new Peeps movie will bring sweetness to families across the country and inspire fans to express their ‘peepsonality’ in new ways!”

Just recently, Peeps also made headlines for its new social media ad that Just Born is running in partnership with Pepsi. Pepsi has made a limited amount of Peeps-flavored soda, but the drink is not commercially available. Those interested in marshmallow pop must post a picture of Peeps Bunnies or Chicks on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag @HangingWithMyPEEPS.

“After a very difficult year, many consumers are looking for new things to smile about. To celebrate the arrival of spring, Pepsi partnered with PEEPS to develop a limited amount of its very first marshmallow cola,” Pepsis Vice President Todd Kaplan said about the doctorate. “This collaboration with Pepsi x Peeps will be available in three bright colors through a distinctive mini-can design and is sure to delight fans all season. We know our consumers love our limited product drops, and we believe Pepsi x Peeps will deliver. ” An iconic and delicious pairing that has the potential to become a fan favorite. ”

Wonder Street, the company behind the new Peeps feature, is also behind the hit film The Mauretanian. Directed by Kevin Macdonald and released in February, the film starred Jodie Foster, Tahar Rahim, Shailene Woodley and Benedict Cumberbatch. Foster won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film, with Rahim receiving an additional nomination for Best Actor. There were also five nominations, including Best Picture, at the British Academy Film Awards.

It’s unclear when the Peeps movie will be released. If the film is successful, if it ever comes out, maybe we’ll get it Cadbury Cream Eggs: The Movie also. This message comes to us from Deadline.
