Apr 26

For a long time, the sales funnel has been an integral part of traditional marketing and business. In recent times however, it appears that funnels are getting talked about everywhere on the internet.

People want to learn more about the marketing concept and the ways it could be utilized to enhance their online marketing strategies. If you'd like to learn more about sales funnels to help you with effective Internet marketing I invite you to continue reading.

The Sales Funnel - What exactly is it?

No, a marketing funnel isn't an actual funnel. The use of the term "funnel" for this marketing concept is simply to help visualize and explain a sales process from the beginning to the end. Because it uses a wide opening for customers who are "Unqualified Prospects" at the top and a much narrower opening for converted sales in the middle,, the term funnel is an accurate comparison.

The top of the funnel or entry point to the funnel are those who we may consider as "unqualified prospects"; these are folks who could need your services or products however, you've not yet contacted them. After a few sales and promotions, you will have gotten customers who have bought your product or service.

Another reason why a lead-generation funnel concept is so efficient is that it lets you track potential customers at various levels of the sales process. It's possible to predict the potential number of customers through the sales funnel by knowing the numbers of prospects who are qualified at each stage of the process.

It is possible to make use of the sales funnel to identify where and how your sales process is working or failing, and whether you're not attracting enough potential customers. This information will allow you to decide which areas to concentrate your efforts and help you reach your goals in marketing. It's used to measure and control the process of selling of clients.

The Sales Funnel Top - Front - End

The uppermost part of your sales funnel will be the most active area of your sales funnel and will require the most consistent testing. Your imagination and resources will limit the amount of front-end strategies you can develop.

The primary purpose of the front end is to draw potential customers in and turn them into buyers further down the sales funnel.

A potential customer will be "qualified" once they have signed up for your product or service. This is the point in the sales funnel where the prospective customer or "Unqualified prospect" is a qualified lead because they have taken actions that show that they are interested enough to purchase your product.

You need to drive targeted traffic on your blog, website or squeeze page for your front-end system to function. Article marketing, PPC ads, social media (Google+ Twitter, Facebook, YouTube), banners and blogging are the most effective methods and resources to do this.

There are a variety of tools available to "qualify" those who are "Unqualified prospect". One of the most effective ways to qualify prospects is by creating a squeeze page. It allows you to offer something of value related to your product which users can receive for free or at a substantially reduced price in exchange for their email address and name. The products offered vary from newsletters, video, ebooks, e-mail courses, related reports and more.

We can see that the front-end is where customers are attracted to your sales funnel. What about the back-end of your sales funnel?

The Back-End or Bottom of The Funnel

The back-end or bottom of the funnel where the major profit and sales are generated. This is typically the place where you sell the most costly products. These products would all be suitable for the same market, however they are offered in various formats, like audio, video and live interaction.

The primary difference between the front-end service and the back end is the type or price of the client.

Although it is the case that only 1 percent of the people who access your front-end will be able access your back-end, this tiny percent may not be of any significance. Because a few people will invest more, that's fine.

It's clear that while front-end products or services are priced below $100, back end products and/or services are often priced in the 100s to 1000s. This means that the bottom of the sales channel which is also known as the back-end is the primary source of income.

Like I said the sales funnel can be as easy or complex as your imagination or resources permit.
